Ján Halaša (October 9, 1893, Martin – † October 12, 1981, Trenčín) was a Slovak photographer, tourism organizer and pharmacist. Photographer of the Trenčín Museum in Trenčín. In the first period (until 1934) the core of his work was landscape, and from 1934, also man. This is how he created documents from the life of the people, especially in the surroundings of Trenčín, in Turc, on Orava, in Liptov. In his landscape work, he moved to his own synthesis of monumentality, the emotional charge of the motif and expression, and the national content. A pioneer of Slovak tourism and alpine sports. He connected tourism with photography, and gradually compiled a pictorial geography of the mountainous parts of Liptov, Orava and Turca. Author and co-author of tourism and national history publications, pictorial and national history publications, pictorial and textual articles in the magazine Krásy Slovenska. His photographs are in the collections of the SNG in Bratislava, the regional M. A. Bazovský Gallery in Trenčín, the Moravian Gallery in Brno and others. slovenskafotografia@gmail.com
